The desire to launch Above Water Collective was born out of a passion for sustainable living, and a rejection of fast fashion.

Hi, I'm George! Having learnt how to sew as a teenager, I picked up my craft again in the 2020 lockdown and haven't looked back. Over the years since, I have worked as a freelance seamstress and brand assistant for local small businesses, but knew that my dream was to run a business of my own; one that reflected my values of sustainability and stayed true to my ethics of fair fashion and collaboration.

The idea that clothes should only last a lifetime considers the harmful impact of 'forever materials' on our environment. Seeing videos of endless piles of textile waste around the world highlights the need for high quality clothing and accessories that are intentionally created using only natural, recycled and reclaimed materials; because no one's clothes need to last forever.

Launching Above Water Collective in 2024 has been my proudest achievement to date, and I can't wait to see where I can take my brand next!
